Divorce is a life-changing event. Many times, it need not be antagonistic. That approach only increases anxiety for all parties involved, including their children. Antagonism also leads to higher legal expenses. However, there are also cases where it is clear that issues will have to be resolved in court. An initial consultation should provide you with a basic understanding of how the process works and what you may expect. The initial consultation should also provide me with enough preliminary information about the facts of your case so that I may answer your questions.

Most cases can be resolved by negotiation. However, I have also tried many cases involving disputed custody and parenting-time issues, and divisions of the marital estate. I have also handled cases involving the valuation of small, closely held businesses and the division of pensions and other retirement plans.

In Indiana, grandparent visitation is available by statute. If parents are divorced, one parent has died, or paternity has been established in the case of unmarried parents, grandparents may seek visitation. In the face of parental objection, the grandparent must establish that the visitation is in the child’s or children’s best interest.
